He eats arugula instead of good ole American iceberglettuce spicy brown mustard instead of down-home yellow faggotyFrench crepes instead of apple pie. He pals around with terrorists. Ifeducational levels were equally high across America the RepublicanParty would have no base outside the ranks of the very rich and a fewtwisted souls serving as research fellows in right-wing think tanks. Ifignorance were eliminated in America the GP as it exists today mightnot exist at all and would certainly have little if any hope of everwinning a national election. GP leaders in Washington are a disgracefor their racist and xenophobic hate-mongering their crudeanti-intellectualism their wanton disregard of the facts and theireagerness to exploit the irrational fears of people lacking in thecritical thinking skills to recognize lies as lies. Equally at faultare news outlets like Fox News and CNN which since the 2008 Democratic primarieshave treated the “cultural concerns” of working-class whites aslegitimate cause to oppose bama and as concerns that not they butbama should feel obligated to address. When the Jeremiah Wrightcontroversy exploded during the primaries these news outlets behavedas though bama somehow owed “Joe Six-Pack” a comforting explanationfor Wright’s remarks for bama’s presence at their utterance and for why after 400years of slavery and second-class citizenship a black man such asWright might be a little angry.

Though we may not all be willing to march in the Pride parades or even send fiery letters to our congressmen about it most of us believe that gay couples deserve the right to be legally wed. I can guarantee you this: The issue of gay marriage is not going to go away and unless you start shifting within the Republican Party you will not gain our support. Read the entire article. She is not simply calling for the GP to be nice to gays but to change their tone and sell their stregnths. As I enter middle age I reflect my own generation in being wary that the GP will change its ways.
