Can any other party challenge the Big two?
Examiner.com
If any one of these other parties were to grow to the size of the big two then you would see some very interesting things happen in the political world. Remember how Arlen Specter jumped ship from the Republican Party to the Democrat Party? I would bet you everything that I own (which is not much) that the politicians would run like rats on a sinking ship to the new party on the rise. Specter left the Republican Party because he could see that his team was loosing the game and it would benefit him to be on the heavily favored Democrat team. If the Libertarians made some major moves and began to rise above the other two do you think that would change the face of politics in America? There has been a lot of talk about the U. needing a three party system.

Texas Florida offer GP models for the future

John Cornyn is an upbeat kind of fellow but when it comes to the Republican Party’s current political standing he is distinctly downbeat. “I think that we’re at a low ebb” the San Antonio Republican declares. After eight years of the Bush presidency and the worst economic slump since the Great Depression only 22 percent of Americans call themselves Republicans according to a survey released Thursday by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center. But while there’s not much debate about the GP’s current state there’s plenty of debate about its best path back to power. As Republicans debate the future of their party two distinct models are emerging: The Texas model and the Florida model.

Ideology shapes battle for Michigan GP
The Detroit News
Increasingly the battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party is pitting social and religious conservatives who unflinchingly tout an anti-abortion anti-gay family platform at the expense of most everything else against the traditional fiscal conservatives and moderates who would rather focus on a smaller less intrusive government that takes less from taxpayer wallets and finds ways to create jobs. That battle was highlighted earlier this month when a west Michigan GP group canceled a speaking engagement by Utah Gov. who served three Republican presidents and was mentioned as a 2012 presidential contender until his appointment by President Barack bama to be ambassador to China. The reason for the revoked invitation: Huntsman’s support for gay civil unions.

Barack bama is the LeBron James of the Democratic Party
Huffington Post
When his stock fell so did that of the Republican Party. n the flip side once the public comes to associate a political party with a particular issue it’s hard to disabuse the notion. Republicans have instant credibility on taxes and keeping the military strong. Democrats are easily trusted on education and the environment. Now that the two parties are tied on national security the battle for issue ownership on that critical questions begins in earnest.
