Breau was amazed that even in “Deep Blue Massachusetts” as he called it the Republicans could muster a showing of that size on a Saturday afternoon. “It’s amazing what people are willing to do” he said still marveling over his own willingness to spend a Saturday holding signs on the corner of Green and Pleasant streets. Breau is Ward 2 chairman of the fledgling Newburyport Republican Party Chapter. “These are strange times and we have to get out of our comfort zone if we want to change what’s happening” he said. “We’re here peacefully” said Christine Herndon of Newburyport from the sidewalk opposite City Hall. The mother of four came out on behalf of her kids she said to protest the stimulus bill she believes will saddle future generations with excessive debt. “I’m a mom of four kids and I want to make the future good for them” said Herndon.

ne of her most recent accomplishments is the opening of a Department of Motor Vehicles office in ld Forge. This office is equipped to handle all transactions from car and snowmobile registrations and license renewals to the new enhanced driver’s license. Rowan has been actively involved in the Herkimer County Republican Party for 30 years. She has been a member of the county committee for over 13 years and for the past six years has served on the executive committee. She is a past president of the Herkimer County Women’s Republican Club and is presently the chair of the town of Herkimer Republican Committee. A graduate of the Utica School of Commerce and the Leadership Mohawk Valley program Rowan and her husband Robert reside in East Herkimer and are the parents of four children and two grandchildren. The Revolutionary Trails Council’s 2009 Scout of the Year she is a past recipient of the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross Great Heroes Award the Retired and Senior Volunteer program of Herkimer County’s 2007 utstanding Contribution Award and the 2002 Herkimer Salvation Army’s “thers” Award.
