The six GP members three from the Senate and three from the Assembly broke ranks last week when they voted to pass the state budget. And it’s true Jindal seems a little stilted. But he does a pretty good job complimenting the president’s achievements while taking issue with his positions. Jindal also issues a pretty strong mea culpa on behalf of a Republican Party that has alienated its base by straying from its principles in the last eight years. "Republicans want to work with President bama" says Jindal. "We appreciate his message of hope — but sometimes it seems we look for hope in different places. Democratic leaders in Washington place their hope in the federal government. We place our hope in you — the American people.

Causey’s retirement is raising questions among the Republican Party

Now there is controversy surrounding Causey's decision some saying it was a political move. Republican Party Chairman Chris Dean is questioning Causey's early retirement because the previous two Democratic sheriffs also left before the end of their terms. Sheriff Joseph McQueen Jr. served 18 years before retiring early in 2000. He was replaced by Sheriff Joseph Lanier who only served for two years. “I am disappointed in process” said Dean.
