Idaho GP reverses course votes to keep primary open
Seattle Times – Jun 14, 2008
“I think it’s indicative of the divisiveness the fact that there’s no real clear mandate one way or another” said state Sen. Joe Stegner a delegate from Lewiston of the vote. “It really means the party has a lot of work to do to find something that has the solid support of the rank and file of the Republican Party. The vote is a marked departure from two years ago when state Republican Convention delegates in Idaho Falls overwhelmingly backed a plan to end Idaho’s open primary. Since then the state GP central committee has also voted to close the primary. When asked what changed Party Chairman Kirk Sullivan said the landscape has shifted. “Two years ago we had 100 percent different people in a different environment” said Sullivan an open primary supporter.

smon fits the profile of those who were picked to go to the GP’s big show — a collection of party activists donors leaders and elected officials. smon also has the kind of passion that compels activists in both major parties to attend the many meetings caucuses and conventions — often at their own expense — through which they rise in party ranks. “I believe the Republican Party is a party of moral purpose and fiscal purpose” she said. Mark wen chairman of the Vanderburgh County Democratic Party said it takes a similar dedication to put oneself in position to be named a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. “For one thing you have to pay the whole thing yourself” said wen who was a delegate to the Democrats’ 1996 convention in Chicago. “You have to be committed and interested. wen expects as many as four Vanderburgh County residents to be named delegates or alternates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver not including superdelegate Rep.
Environment of contention

"Since God is going to restore all things we should work with him and not against him by destroying everything" Larson said. Brian Kaylor a Baptist minister and communications specialist for the Baptist General Convention said it is exciting to see more evangelicals waking up to the importance of environmental devastation but many are only giving "lip service" to "creation care. ""The primary problem is a lot of these leaders have aligned themselves very strongly with the Republican party. They are toeing the party line more than dealing with the issue" Kaylor said citing a statement by Richard Land that it was time for evangelicals to consummate their marriage to the Republican Party. "The Bible is abundantly clear that the Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it and we are supposed to take care of the Earth which brings glory and praise to God and helps humans to worship God because we see the beauty of creation" Kaylor said. "I don’t see how we can sit by and let creation be destroyed. "Hank ttinger vice chairman of the sage Group of the Missouri Chapter of the Sierra Club said no local evangelical churches had contacted the Sierra Club for information on global warming but that he’s pleased more evangelicals are coming to the environmental cause.
Bob Barr may get post-Paul boost
Atlanta Journal Constitution – Jun 14, 2008
Some may wind up voting for bama. Paul took 3 percent in the Georgia primary finishing fourth. Jamie Sibold chairman of the DeKalb County Republican Party was surprised Paul dropped out when he did. But he said “I’m really glad because maybe now I can co-opt all those people into Republican races. Ralph Nader the former Green Party candidate running for president this year as an independent released a statement Friday claiming to be Paul’s natural ally. “There is a clear choice for those who want to support a candidate who will stand up against the war and stand up for personal liberties and privacy” Nader said. Even if each of the more than 1.

SCHNEIDER: bama has the edge over McCain on the economy. It’s a fairly narrow lead just six points. It may have less to do with bama’s issue positions than with his party. The Democratic Party now has a huge lead over the Republican Party on the economy — two to one in a recent poll. By winning the nomination bama has become the Democrat the candidates who offers different economic policies than those of President Bush — in a word change. BAMA: So there’s going to be a very clear choice in this election. John McCain will dust off the old political playbook that George Bush used in the last two elections and the disastrous tax policies that have failed the American people.
Switching candidates is not easy for some
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel – Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (subscription… – Jun 14, 2008
Doyle said bama will make sure the nation?s soldiers ?come home forever?? instead of serving two three and even four terms of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also said it will be bama who will help middle class taxpayers who are now ?watching rich people get the tax breaks?? and who will worry about the futures of General Motors workers in Janesville whose jobs the car maker has said will be eliminated when the plant closes within two years. But Republican Party spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski said it was ?completely unrealistic and dangerous?? for Doyle to say that bama would bring America?s soldiers home permanently. ?Voters already trust Sen. McCain?s judgment and experience to keep our nation secure but it will make their decisions in November that much easier if the Democrats now stand for cutting the military?? Kukowski added. And Kukowski said bama wants to double the tax on capital gains which would be paid by ?250000 families making under $50000 a year. ?? He also wants to tax energy and small business which are critical to Wisconsin?s economy she added.
