"We’ve been doing a lot of work over the past year understanding how users are interacting with our tools and moving users from online to offline" says Krohn. Despite such efforts many in the Republican Party say the RNC and McCain’s campaign in particular must do more. There is still a widespread perception that McCain and the Republicans don’t get the Web say several young party members interviewed at the Personal Democracy Forum (PDF) a conference concerning the Internet’s role in politics held in New York on June 23-24. McCain’s lack of showing on the major social networks and other sites where young voters hang out makes him look out of touch with that demographic they say particularly when compared with bama. That perception keeps McCain from receiving wide support from tech-savvy individuals who could build tools to help his campaign not to mention cough up much needed cash. nline UrgencyThe view of McCain as ignorant of new Web tools was reinforced during a PDF panel where McCain’s personal computer use was discussed.

Top Story: Negroes coming to aid Democrats whip TaftChairman Scott of the National Negro Conference Committee will arrange a meeting of leading black men of the country to come to Denver and raise the question of whether or not to support the Democratic Party in the fall. This is a momentous occasion because it is the first time since the Negroes have had the right to vote that they have considered backing the Democratic Party. They have always backed the Republican Party as certain supporters and their defection means the loss of hundreds of thousands of votes lost for the GP. The movement to switch sides has stemmed from President Roosevelt’s treatment of colored soldiers after the Brownsville Texas race riot and the anti-Taft colored delegations of the southern states being denied their seats at the Republican National Convention in Chicago. They have come to the conclusion that the time has come when they must break away from the Republican Party. James Mackey one of the most well known black men in Denver has sent a letter to the News on their position: “The rejection of a part and its politics should be based on more substantial grounds (then racist behavior). The same motives that are influencing the intelligent white voters to break with the Republican Party should guide the negro in political action.

She paints a very different historical picture than most African-Americans pointing to what she says is the Democrats’ racist past. She brings up Democrats who fought to keep blacks enslaved and those who were members of the Ku Klux Klan. "The Republican Party has been the champion of freedom and civil rights for blacks" she says. And the Democrats? "Their goal is to keep blacks in poverty and the Republicans out of power" Rice says. However Daniels says that after Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower the Democrats have been the ones who have talked about the issues such as poverty that are important to African-Americans. "In terms of black people people say the conventional wisdom is that the Democrats have taken blacks for granted but it’s the Republican Party that takes blacks for granted" Daniels says.

“For some of them it’s not that tangible yet” she said. The DNC is posting the names of all delegates who go carbon-neutral on its Web site. The Republican Party has no similar program under way for the Minneapolis-St. Paul convention and labeled the Democratic call for purchasing carbon offsets “elitist” and “out-of- touch. “The GP convention is implementing numerous conscientious and realistic environmentally friendly initiatives” said spokeswoman Joanna Burgos. “After all the Republican Party is the party of Teddy Roosevelt and many other notable environmentalists. Collins said he saw e-mails urging people to boycott stores with the petition but didn’t want to talk more about it. The petition was no longer at the Piggly Wiggly on Thursday.
