He served in several legitimate jobs in the Republican Party including chief of staff to the co-chair of the Republican National Committee before he set up his own firm with help from elite Republican investors. It was while heading that outfit GP Marketplace that Raymond got involved in dubious activities and crossed the line. He served three months in prison in 2006 for participating in a scheme to jam Democratic Party phone banks on Election Day in New Hampshire in 2002. In his new book “How to Rig an Election: Confessions of a Republican perative” Raymond explains how he got into the sleazy side of the business and how it works. Actually we have not seen them. They were just waving these things without indicating any specific details" he said. The revolution of US presidential hopeful Ron Paul
CTV.ca – Jan 8, 2008
“If you say that in a Republican Party meeting they’re going to say you’re a nut. ” His supporters can also get riled up if they feel Paul is being overlooked or misrepresented. “If a reporter ever says anything that the Ron Paul fans think is not respectful of their candidate you’re going to get hundreds of angry emails and that adds to the whole ‘fanatic’ thing too” said Doherty. “And if they think Ron isn’t getting the attention they think he deserves they’ll start accusing ‘h you’re blacking him out or there’s a conspiracy against him. ‘” But Levine said Paul’s supporters are probably no different than any of the other candidates’ backers.

With Foes Like These
Newsweek – Jan 8, 2008
Fewer than half–49 percent–think that the president should be ousted but two thirds of self-described “”religious conservatives” think so. More Republicans (43 percent) think impeachment has hurt the party than think it has helped (12 percent). “”The Republican Party as an institution is imploding” said GP polltaker John McLaughlin adviser to presidential contender Steve Forbes. If Clinton was feeling any heat he didn’t show it. The Republicans–not the Democrats–looked uncomfortable last week as Clinton became the first impeached president ever to deliver a State of the Union address. House GP leaders sat on their hands (”"They all looked like they sucked the same lemon” said one White House aide laughing) while he stole their themes and cleverly offered middle-class big-government goodies in conservative tones. Clinton seemed unsure at times–especially in a belated and strained tribute to his wife Hillary–but still showed why he’s one of the best Communicators in Chief ever to work the room.
Reader comments: Mitt says he can beat bama in November
Deseret News – Jan 8, 2008
8 2008In 1976 the Republican Party made a big mistake by choosing Gerald Ford as its candidate because of misplaced loyalty. That year Republicans rejected Ronald Reagan who was to become our greatest president in History four years later. If we choose a war hero and a wonderful man to run as our candidate this year we will make a simular mistake. f the Republican candidates only Mitt Romney has the ability to beat the Democrat Candidate be it Hillary or bama. The results of choosing the old “safe” Republican John McCain or the newer “preacher” candidate Mike Huckabee will be as big a disaster as when Gerald Ford was the candidate and Jimmy Carter won the presidency… Why would the republican party want to play defense against the Democrats rather than play to win on their own platform? This weakens the republican party. Doesn’t make it sound that they believe in their own message. Comments continue belowliberal larry | 7:01 a.
Two Parties Defined by their Frontrunners
newsbyus.com – Jan 8, 2008
Who are the three frontrunners for the Democrat Party nomination? Senator Clinton Senator bama and former Senator Edwards. Who are five frontrunners for the Republican Party nomination? Former Governor Huckabee former Governor Romney former Mayor Giuliani Senator McCain and former Senator Thompson. Are there differences between these two groups? Yes clear differences… 2008 will be the seventh consecutive election in which the Democrat nominee was a lawyer. During the same period Republicans nominated only one lawyer Bob Dole to be their presidential candidate. The Republican Party is the party of people who do things and people who live in America. The Democrat Party is the party of Washington lawyers. That is a difference a real difference which Republicans would do well to highlight.
